California – Patagonia, the outdoor clothing brand has launched Truth to Materials, a new line made entirely from reclaimed fabrics.
Using offcuts from their factory floors, including wool from Italy, cotton from China and Malaysia, and down from Alabama, Patagonia’s latest collection is based on sustainable and responsible textile production. Damaged jackets, unwanted woollen jumpers and cotton scraps saved from landfill have all gone into the collection.
The unisex range features woollen jumpers, cotton sweatshirts, jackets and a scarf.
In a video on the company’s website, a quote from John Rapp, Patagonia’s product designer and tester, explains the philosophy behind the line: ‘Truth to Materials is about discovering the origin of a material and staying as true to that as possible during every step of the design and manufacturing process… We call this work Responsible Manufacturing.’
