Singapore – JWT Singapore has developed a location-based app that enables people who face a medical emergency to use their smartphone to locate the nearest certified first-aider.
The Rapid Rescue app, created by the advertising agency for the Singapore Red Cross Society, lets smartphone owners send out an SOS message if they are in need of medical assistance. The message is received by all first-aiders within a 2km radius. After a first-aider accepts the call, the app provides the shortest route to the victim and, if no one answers, the app provides directions to the nearest hospital.
The app is a great example of how smartphone technology and GPS software can be used to help deliver aid to those who need it most.
