London – Luxury brand Fendi has collaborated with Royal College of Art accessories design students on a temporary workshop installation at its Sloane Street flagship store as part of London Design Week.
Nine students were invited to ‘do something spectacular’ with their allocated space in the store. Their ideas for the Anatomy of Fendi exhibition were inspired by the craftsmanship of the label’s leather collection.
This eye-catching and futuristic laboratory-themed space shows how historical stories can be updated and re-appropriated for a contemporary audience. We have seen how celebrating provenance and showcasing artisanal values have become the new watchwords for luxury brands looking to instigate a fresh dialogue with consumers. Gucci and Hermès have also adopted a similar idea with live installations in-store in the past 12 months.
