Monster images: Illustrator draws on GIF style

22 : 03 : 2012 Gen D : Return Of The GIF : Netstalgia

Seattle – Illustrator Dain Fagerholm has created a series of what he calls Stereographic Drawings, which are 3D-style GIFs featuring hand-drawn monsters.

Rather than appearing jarring, repetitive or lo-fi as GIFs often are, the frames in Fagerholm’s work trick the viewer into thinking that the picture is 3D, giving an illusion of depth.

This kind of imagery would appeal to members of the Generation D tribe, who were born between 1994 and 2002. It also provoked a strong reaction from the LS:N Global editorial team. For more on the resurgence of GIFs, read our Return of the GIF microtrend.
