Not/stalgia: Trend Briefing is sublimely 90s

15 : 03 : 2012 Trend Briefing : Netstalgia : The Future Family

London – Guests joined The Future Laboratory team at The Hospital Club yesterday for a sublime spring Trend Briefing that explored a nostalgia of a new sort, which LS:N Global has called Not/stalgia.

The Future Laboratory co-founders Martin Raymond and Chris Sanderson, strategy director Tom Savigar, LS:N Global editor James Wallman, and LS:N Global visual editor Julian Ellerby took to the stage in turn to present three key consumer trends that will set agendas in the next 5–10 years. Future Poll editor Dr Antonia Ward and quant trends analyst James Kennedy also presented findings from the latest Future Poll Consumer Attitudes Audit.

Netstalgia explored how a new wave of creatives are rejecting today’s polished, corporate internet, and re-inventing it with a 90s twist. The New Sublimity trend presentation explored how people are turning away from busy, hyper-connected, digital lives and prioritising personal fulfillment and wellbeing. The Future Family examined the demographic shifts and new behaviour surrounding the home in advanced economies.

After refreshments provided by Havana Club, delegates went on their way, inspired we hope, to think a little more reflectively.
