Antwerp – The newly opened MAS Museum in Belgium is offering the public a chance to take a ‘phygital tour’.
Visitors to the Live Tour website can experience a real-time walk-through of the museum by taking charge of a human tour guide. After logging on to the site, users can direct a real guide through the museum with the arrow buttons on their keyboard. The guide receives instructions through headphones and directs the camera accordingly.
This innovative use of real-time interaction with a physical guide could translate to use in other sectors such as retail. The Google Art Project demonstrates similar technology, but with a digital focus.
