Kassel, Germany – Designer Tim Mackerodt has created a lamp and a stool from folded concrete.
The FALT.series was produced using a new innovative process involving the folding of thin sheets of concrete, sourced from German engineering specialists G.tecz.
G.tecz has devised a revolutionary way of producing more cost-effective, and economically viable concrete. It is made with a low cement ratio, reducing the cost as well as CO2 emissions.
Mackerodt folded the concrete around thermo-treated ash to create the lamp and stool, resulting in unexpectedly light objects with a stability of form.
In the Anarconomy Decade new materials and processes are increasingly necessary to combat environmental and economic crises. Designers and brands should be open to innovation in disruptive, game-changing ways in order to succeed.
