Düsseldorf – Seven international companies and 14 contributors took part in a two-day event, the Trend Table, at Heimtextil to discuss the trends that will emerge in 2012/2013.
LS:N Global visual editor Emma Chiu and former design editor Caroline Till presented four trends for The Future Laboratory: DIY,Revivalism, Super Minimal and Survivability.
Other companies included Dutch design team Stijlinstituut Amsterdam, Japan’s textile design company DAN Projeckt and German trend research team bora.herke, which will be responsible for the conceptual development of the Heimtextil 2012 trend book and forum.
Clear themes stemmed from each company including the revival of folk, DIY culture and the use of new technology to facilitate this movement, and an age of optimism. Bora.herke will take on the challenge to realise these four key trends at next year’s fair.
