Milan – Emporio Armani showed its Industrial autumn/winter 2011 collection at Milan fashion week. Proclaiming that ‘this is the year for wool’, and ruling out nylon and quilting, the designer combined boiled wool and alpaca, nubuck-style sheepskin and leather to give his urban dwellers a sense of ‘protection, warmth and reassurance’.
The ideas behind the work, and the subtle use of pale grey, camel and marl colours, link with LS:N Global’s Solid Clarity trend, but with a tailored edge appropriate to the brand. Moving on from the Bleisure styles of last season, we expect to see more designers experimenting with nomadic styles that provide comfort in an urban context.
