Las Vegas – Sony signalled how 3D technology will become a personal experience in the future with the unveiling of a 3D headset prototype at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Launched at the brand’s press conference on Wednesday 5 January, the head-mounted display enables people to view and hear 3D films and games.
‘This is the year 3D becomes personal,’ said Sir Howard Stringer, chairman, CEO and president of Sony. ‘It’s much more than a sci-fi gimmick dominated by special effects.’
Sony also unveiled several new commercial 3D products, from new Handycams to Vaio notebook computers. It seems that 3D will not only remain a key format for technology brands this year, but will also expand beyond home entertainment.
