The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism has joined forces with the home delivery company to help promote the island to food-lovers. Chef’d users in the US can now experience the Caribbean flavours of the Cayman Islands by creating dishes such as piña colada chicken and blackened mahi-mahi at home.

Developed in association with four chefs based on the island, the tourist board hopes the initiative will establish a unique food identity for the destination and help it to promote its 230 restaurants.

‘We were more specifically concentrated on a luxury Millennial, young professional clientele who cook at home and are open to different kinds of cuisines,’ says Rosa Harris, director of tourism for the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.

The Big Picture

  • By promoting their food culture through a sector that is popular with young professionals, the Cayman Islands are tapping into a generation of New Bricolage consumers who like to explore global culture through cuisine
  • As Millennials mature, they are coming to represent an ever-larger proportion of the luxury market. For more insight on luxury consumer behaviour, join us for our Luxury Futures Forum 2017 on 5 July
