Hilton introduces gym equipment in rooms

21 : 06 : 2017 Hospitality : Wellness : Travel

US – The Five Feet to Fitness concept fosters physical and mental wellness among travellers.

Guests of the Hilton can now choose a room with its own gym and wellness facilities, allowing them to work out in private while away from home. The rooms feature an indoor bicycle, alongside a Gym Rax functional training station that provides guests with equipment for strength, core, suspension and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workouts.

The workouts are delivered as bespoke fitness videos, with titles including Yoga and Endurance, which have been created by the Hilton in collaboration with Aktiv Solutions, a brand that designs dynamic workout spaces for health clubs.

‘We know that no matter how determined people are about making healthy decisions while at home, the ability to replicate those choices is often not as easy as it should be while travelling,' says Ryan Crabbe, senior director of global wellness at Hilton Worldwide.

The Big Picture

  • As wellness continues to gain traction across sectors, brands such as the Hilton and Roam Fitness are demonstrating how it can be incorporated into the travel market
  • Driven by the desire to remain healthy, even while away from home, consumers are willing to pay a premium for wellness facilities in their hotel rooms. For more, see our Well Hotels microtrend
