Asif Khan opens energy-inspired design pavilion

15 : 06 : 2017 Design : Digital : Technology

Astana – The pavilion, We Are Energy, explores climate change, human civilisation and energy innovation in the UK.

‘Our pavilion asks the question, if we can realise we are all energy, connected to each other and to everything from the beginning of time, how might it affect the way we think about energy in the future?’ reads a statement from the brand.

The pavilion was opened following its inclusion in this year’s Astana Expo in Kazakhstan. The space features a 60-metre panoramic screen that depicts a living, universal landscape generated entirely by computer. The visual, which changes from day to night and responds to visitor activity by changing the weather conditions on display, is said to represent the connection between humans and the environment.

Before leaving the pavilion, visitors are also invited to explore a separate display on graphene, something we previously outlined as a future material. Alongside the visual displays in the pavilion, an original musical score by Brian Eno plays throughout.
