Global – As online dating becomes the norm, consumers are looking for services to augment their failing courtship skills.

  • 15% of American adults have used online dating sites or mobile dating apps, according to Pew Research Center
  • Apps such as Crushh and Hinge use semantic and data analysis to help daters navigate the courtship process

Although our screen-based culture gives us greater opportunities to meet potential partners than ever before, it has also affected our face-to-face dating skills, precipitating a need for new products and services to ease the burden of courtship.

Crushh is a new app that analyses your text and call histories to provide a score of how much someone likes you, along with measures of engagement and interest. The system maps changes over time and highlights days where there was a fundamental change in the tone of your communications.

‘Humans are imperfect at making judgements, especially when it comes to other people and emotions – it’s only natural we now use technology to help us become better at it,’ Crushh founder Es Li tells LS:N Global.

The Big Picture

Consumers are increasingly looking to technology to give them greater insight into their interpersonal interactions and help them to bridge the intimacy divide created by a screen-first culture. Read our Courtship Crisis microtrend to find out more.
