London – A new pop-up restaurant built from materials borrowed from a construction site is set to open in the city.

Studio East Dining, by London architects Carmody Groarke and London restaurant Bistrotheque, was built on the roof of the Westfield Stratford City building site, overlooking the Olympic Park.

‘This is the Rolls Royce of pop-ups,’ said Pablo Flack, co-owner of Bistrotheque.

Materials used include 2,000 scaffolding boards, 3,500 scaffolding poles and reclaimed timber for the floors. The roof features retractable polyethylene and is 100% recyclable.

The restaurant will be open from June 16 for three weeks. LS:N Global has previously reported on the Stratford City mall in a Seed. We are increasingly noticing spaces with an unfinished appeal that offer a greater experience. For more on this trend read our feature on Rough Luxe Spaces.
