Life story: Live Issue event wins GFW award

London – ‘We created a live fashion magazine and literally brought the editorial to life – we wanted people to experience our content ideas in 3D,’ said Hammerson Innovation award winner Susie O’Brien, describing her Live Issue final project on graduating from the fashion promotion and imaging course at UCA Epsom.

During the one-night Live Issue event, O’Brien and fellow student Katie Burkes explored ideas such as a live fashion shoot, film shows and real-time interpretations of a printed editorial story through an illustrator. The students collaborated with designer Pam Hogg to provide a constant interview opportunity for visitors.

‘This year’s fashion promotion students at UCA Epsom have been exceptional – especially in their visual communications. Many graduates are job-ready when they finish and their final work is of a professional standard,’ UCA Epsom course leader Adrien Parry Roberts told LS:N Global. Fellow UCA Epsom fashion promotion students Katy Kenchington and Lewis Chong were also nominated for the award.

The Live Issue was one of the projects selected for the Innovation award by LS:N Global editor-in-chief Martin Raymond, who is on the Graduate Fashion Week (GFW) judging panel. See our full coverage next week.
