New York – Infinite Arcade is a children’s game that can be built and rebuilt from each player’s imagination.
Infinite Arcade encourages children to become game designers and create their own worlds, based on five classic arcade formats including platform, pinball and maze. A toolkit and a simple drag-and-drop interface helps children to build their world, from the terrain to the soundtrack to the obstacles and enemies that need to be overcome.
Once the game has been built the players are free to explore with a host of customisable characters, including a floating eyeball called Jellyclops and Chomper, a green, razor-toothed monster. ‘We wanted to give kids enough open-ended pieces so that they can map their imagination onto them,’ says Tinybop founder Raul Gutierrez.
Born between 2000 and 2010, members of Generation I are digital natives who expect the same level of customisation and personalisation they experience online in the physical world as well.
