Melbourne events: A round-up

19 : 02 : 2016 Australia : The Future Laboratory : Events

Australia – Our recent Melbourne events introduced guests to the trends and cultural shifts across the Asia-Pacific region and the wider world.

We kicked off the week with a Hospitality Network Evening at the CAPI headquarters, where we welcomed a roster of industry experts for a series of round-table discussions.

Speakers included Ennis Cehic, brand director of Sample Brew, Inge van der Poel, founder and CEO of Elderberry, and Jeremy Wortsman, founder and director of The Jacky Winter Group, to name a few.

At the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, we introduced members to The Age of the Long Near Trend Briefing and three macrotrends – The Optimised Self, Anti-authenticity Marketing and The Immortal Brand.

We spoke about the need for a paradigm shift in the way companies structure their targets to enable them to think beyond five- or 10-year strategies and consider the centuries ahead.

Our final event, the Food and Drink Futures Forum, was held up at the Melbourne Theatre Company. Guests heard from such insightful speakers as Glen Cassidy and Mike Smith, co-founders of Cake Wines, and Bruce Keebaugh, co-founder and owner of The Big Group.

We also welcomed Diageo Bartender of the Year 2012 Tim Philips and treated guests to a menu that featured our Top Ten Ingredients to Watch. For more from these events, follow us on Twitter @TheFutureLab.

The Big Picture

Our Trend Briefing event The Age of the Long Near is coming soon to Sydney, as is our Retail Futures Forum, where we discuss emerging changes in the global retail sector, new markets to focus on, niche brands to watch and game-changing innovators.
