Dubai – The inaugural edition of Dubai Design Week offered a showcase of innovative local talent and new retail platforms.
The first Dubai Design Week took place from 26 to 31 October around D3, a new neighbourhood that will mix office buildings with retail space and artist workspace throughout the city.
To celebrate Dubai’s thriving retail sector, one of the city’s most popular lifestyle stores, S*uce, curated a mobile pop-up space in D3. The Exit Through the Design Shop was housed in a mobile shipping container and included pieces by international and regional brands such as Pavement and Tom Dixon.
Opening next year is a new 800-square-metre concept shop in Jumeirah Beach. The new space will be a showcase platform to support emerging talent from the region in categories ranging from fashion and jewellery to homewares and design objects.
