Hashtag filtered dining

09 : 09 : 2015 Hashme : Onion : Filters

Bangkok – Hashme is a restaurant designed with a different kind of sharing in mind.

  • The restaurant designers were conscious of how diners take to their mobiles in order to promote a new venue
  • It is not just the views over the city’s sweeping skyline that will have guests reaching for their phones

It is not just the views over Bangkok’s bustling markets that will entice social media mavens to whet their appetites at Hashme. Inspired by Instagram, interior designers and architects at Onion applied five coloured filters across the single space, using pink mirrors, black steel, white marble, green paint and light oakwood to separate the restaurant into distinct zones.

The colour scheme has been rigorously applied to furnishings, floor and ceiling, ensuring every object is a chromatic match with all the others in its zone, creating a photogenic interior and ‘a place for young Bangkokians to dine, take photographs and hang out’.

The Big Picture: Restaurants are starting to embrace and revel in the sportification of food. Tel Aviv’s Foodography, for example, encouraged guests to get snap happy with some innovative crockery, even hosting classes with a professional food photographer.
