02 : 07 : 2015 Booth Net Café & Capsule : Fan Inc. : Shinjuku

Shinjuku, Tokyo – A new capsule hotel-cum-internet café has opened in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo that aims to dispel negative views of internet cafés.

  • The multipurpose Booth Net Café & Capsule was previously a capsule hotel
  • Offers both convivial and private internet-browsing experiences

The Booth Net Café & Capsule is comprised of three spaces. Customers can socialise in the open café booth while browsing the internet, or take a look at the vast collection of manga comics on display. For private browsing, they can move to softly lit net café micro-booths. If in need of some rest, they can rent a capsule booth for the night.

Designed by interior designers Fan Inc, the space is a far cry from typical internet cafés, which in the age of home broadband and connected devices are considered old and outdated.

The Big Picture: The Booth Net Café & Capsule is another example of the changing face of Tokyo’s leisure spaces. To find out more, read our Run Stations microtrend.
