London – Barmen collective Drink Factory has imagined the perfect cocktails for a post-apocalyptic world.

  • Silent Neon Flowers is the second edition in the Drink Factory magazine series
  • Conceptual publication envisages a future in which humanity has disappeared

In its latest publication, Drink Factory imagines a future devoid of all humanity, where plants have become the dominant species and all that remains of mankind is ‘the imperceptible hum of abandoned urban machinery’.

With no one left, Drink Factory seeks to answer questions such as Can taste be silent? and Can flavour be a metaphor? through conceptual mixology. Photographers Addie Chinn, Ollie Harrop and Ruth Vatcher have brought to life recipes such as The Edelweiss Twinkle, a jelly made from vodka and champagne, and a Lotus Flower Granita made from scratch.

The Big Picture: One of the social phenomena to emerge in a post-recessionary world is a fascination with extremes. Read our Chasm Culture microtrend for more on brands that play on the polarity between utopia and dystopia.
