London – Londoners’ passion for a themed bar goes from strength to strength with Kingly Court’s latest addition, the Blitz-inspired Cahoots bar, showing the industry is alive and well.
The latest venture from entrepreneurs Charlie Gilkes and Duncan Stirling’s Inception Group, Cahoots was inspired by the London Underground’s use as an air raid shelter during World War II. Prohibition is the order of the day and the space is full of secretive cubby holes and dimly lit corners. If you turn to the back of the menu you will find an envelope marked ‘Do Not Open’. Order the martini and you’ll receive your drink served from a disguised cocktail trolley. Between the replica train carriage, miniature air raid shelter and electro swing music, Cahoots is a time capsule to the 1940s, one cocktail-fuelled evening at a time.
The Big Picture: Tired of post-recession austerity, consumers are looking for escapist experiences that awaken the senses and transport them to a different time. Read our Futuretainment macrotrend for more.
