Johannesburg – Puma Select has opened a store with a pared-back, flexible design to highlight its luxury product range. With the interiors based on English workshops and inspired by the ‘love of creating’, the space has a craft and industrialist feel.
3D industrial designer Ben Wilson of The Wilson Brothers and London-based design consultancy Brinkworth collaborated on the store using interchangeable accessories that make the retail space quick and easy to install, adjust and dismantle. They used a simple peg system, which has been re-engineered using modern technology to display the products.
‘Spaces must be flexible and adjust to the products and activity in the store,’ says Wilson. ‘This is key in today’s retail environment.’
The idea was to show the ethos of Puma’s product range, which centres on performance, while also drawing inspiration from culture and fashion, and showing it all through the store’s interior design.
This minimalist design and flexible approach to retail fixtures means the products can speak for themselves. For more, read our Flexi Simplicity design direction.
