Paris – For its spring/summer 2014 collection, Hermès took inspiration from the jungle paintings of French post-Impressionist painter Henri Rousseau. However, the accompanying film takes a more playful and tropical approach.
Canadian graphic designer Julien Vallée has created a vibrant and exotic animation for the Hermès spring campaign. The film, entitled Metamorphosis, shows accessories from the collection alongside tropical plants and props – a pink lace-up sandal, for instance, changes into the shape of a flamingo. The accompanying soundtrack features jungle drums, chants and animal roars, reflecting the hypnotic nature of the digital landscape.
‘We were approached by Hermès through Digitas and Publicis et Nous to present the star products of the 2014 collection,’ Vallée tells LS:N Global. ‘I think they wanted to take an approach that would make this video unconventional in the luxury market.’
