Budapest – Hungarian designer Kevin Harald Campean has devised packaging for a craft beer that combines Soviet-style iconography and muscle power to give a masculine edge to the artisan drink.
Beat Beer comes in a black bottle with bold graphic symbols and a punching fist, reminiscent of USSR imagery. The bottle’s neck is fashioned half like an imprint of a fisted hand, half like a gun.
‘My inspiration comes from the hooligan fights, where the beer glasses were the accessories of the brawl,’ says Campean. The bold industrial aesthetic and communist-style typography is backed up by the drink’s high alcohol content.
LS:N Global has seen designers increasingly reference Soviet Style for interiors, marketing and products. Beat Beer could also appeal to LS:N Global’s Boozer Evangelist who appreciates functionality, craftsmanship and high-quality products.
