To dye for: Jewellery pieces make their mark

27 : 06 : 2013 Clothes : Would You Happy Me? : Ana•s Paulard

London – Jewellery designer Anaïs Paulard is exhibiting her art jewellery, focusing on intimacy, connections and coming together, at the New Designers show.

The pieces represent these themes in the different ways in which they are worn. Would You Happy Me? is a collection of rings that encase different coloured powder dyes. When a wearer touches them, the washable dye is left behind on the person’s clothes and body. The Won’t Hug Me Twice? brooch features an inflatable balloon tentatively placed against a metal set of teeth. When the wearer is hugged, the balloon bursts, coating both people in the dye.

These statement jewellery pieces create conversations around simple exchanges that are both playful and poignant in equal measure. For more highlights from the New Designers exhibition, keep an eye on our Inspire section.
