Japan – Lifestyle brand Muji has launched a new digital passport app, which exchanges purchases for loyalty points.
The new app acts as a membership and ‘Muji mile’ points-scheme card and replaces its current membership card. Users simply check in upon arrival in the store and digital coupons are then made available. The app also has a shopping guide that confirms stock availability in nearby stores, allowing users to track down favourite products.
The app also enables Muji to track its users’ shopping habits and gather customer feedback. This can help to inform future rewards and even product development.
Consumers are increasingly looking to streamline their shopping experience, and brands are adopting methods that encourage dwell time through their own branded reward apps. For more read our Check-In Commerce microtrend.
