Healthy choice: App monitors life expectancy

28.04.2013 Smartphone : Ben Way : Hermione Way

US – Hermione and Ben Way, founders of Ignite Wellness Inc, have created Ignite, a new personal health-tracking app that monitors users’ life expectancy based on the decisions they make.

Brands are increasingly recording our personal information and creating Self-Quant products that measure aspects of people’s everyday lives, as we reported in our Personal Information Economy macrotrend.

Ignite works on the basis that everyday choices such as smoking, diet and how much you exercise, have an impact on life expectancy. Using smartphone sensors and the Ignite Pad hardware device to monitor weight and exercise levels, the app translates a user’s decisions to calculate his or her life expectancy.

With interactive goals, a leader board and reward points, the app is designed to help people monitor their life expectancy and motivate them to improve it.
