Canada – Toronto-based digital design studio Teehan+Lax has created the Hyperlapse app using Google Street View that enables people to go on virtual road trips.
Platforms such as Google, Facebook and Apple are no longer just trading sites, but mega-systems in which consumers are socialising, shopping and living their lives, as we reported in our The Dawn of the Mega-systems macrotrend.
The new app compresses Google Street View frames into time-lapse videos, taking people on a virtual journey anywhere in the world. Users simply choose their starting point and destination, then press create. The video journey is then instantly stitched together, ready for users to ‘hit the road’.
The app enables people to go on a virtual journey that they might not otherwise have a chance to take.
