Amsterdam – Amsterdam-based designer Siba Sahabi has used an unconventional material to create a collection of Greek-inspired vessels.
The carafes and cups in Sahabi’s Between Two Rivers collection appear to be made from clay, but they were created using dense coils of felt material.
To create this illusion, the designer layered several coils of felt material on top of each other before painting the internal and external surfaces.
A growing number of designers are applying unexpected treatments to surfaces and adapting materials to mimic the appearance of different textiles.
