London – British heritage brand Burberry has presented an opulent vision of luxury for its spring/summer 2013 collection during London Fashion Week.

In a departure from the understated craft direction in which luxury design has moved in recent years, this collection featured strong silhouettes in shades of emerald green and deep purple. The result is a rich and luxurious aesthetic with 40s references. Creative director Christopher Bailey claimed he wanted to communicate ‘a very British glamour.’

The fashion house has also reworked its iconic trenchcoat, giving it a sweet wrapper-like makeover in metallic shades of raspberry, fuchsia and gold. Capes and other accessories in transparent PVC, lace and metallic leathers completed the overall feel of bold decadence and classic luxury.

Burberry also live streamed the show at its new Burberry World Live flagship store on Regent Street to showcase the physical-digital retail strategy of the brand.
