New YorkProenza Schouler introduced its spring/summer 2013 collection last week in New York. The range features a striking juxtaposition of textures and digital prints, suggesting a Tumblr-style cascade of imagery.

The collection takes the imagery of common digital prints into the realm of abstraction. Dresses resemble a photo collage, but are layered over with neon studs that blend into a field of grommets. Prints of forest and crowd scenes are punctuated by tessellated black triangles, while strips of python show up in unlikely places.

Sometimes the inspiration from Tumblr is clear, as in the patchwork jackets that seem designed for vertical scrolling. Other pieces are suffused with a sense of eccentric curation and an obsession with the creative possibilities of pastiche.

In this collection Proenza Schouler appeals to the sensibilities of The Curator Generation. For more ways to reach out visually to hyper-connected consumers, read our Digital Surrealism Toolkit.
