Belgium – In the Personal Information Economy, personal privacy online is increasingly rare. In response to consumers’ willingness to share their personal details online, Belgian fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck has created the Silent Secrets menswear line.

The spring/summer 2013 collection, created in collaboration with sculptor Folkert de Jong, combines turn-of-the-20th-century gentlemen’s attire with exposed socks, garters and boxer shorts.

Van Beirendonck then wraps his dandyesque models in computer cables, representing the way the internet restricts and binds users.

Consumers are feeling increasingly wary of how brands are using their data online and are trying to reclaim it. To find out more, read LS:N Global’s Personal Information Economy macrotrend.
