London – Independent menswear brand Silent Ventures, which sources its fabrics from small manufacturers and local mills, has opened a pop-up shop in Shoreditch.
The name, Silent Ventures, came from the idea to give credence to the unsung workforce that provides the material. ‘They work away quietly, have great skills and do an incredible job, but are reserved to the factory,’ says designer and founder Michael Sellinger. ‘As a designer, it is really important to go to the factory to understand the material itself and appreciate the work that goes into it.’
Making the origin of the fabric a key theme in your brand story creates an image of quality. For more examples of companies celebrating provenance, read our Show Your Working microtrend.
