London – Advertising agency Mother London has created a commercial short and iPhone app for Belgian lager brand Stella Artois that explains the ritual of pouring the beer.
The commercial, which is in the surreal style of 1960s European cinema, shows a classroom of barmen being taken though the nine steps to pouring the perfect pint by an alluring barmaid with a French accent.
The app also gives tuition in pint-pouring. People earn points in a game for perfectly executing the nine steps on their iPhone, using features such as its accelerometer to hold a virtual glass steady. Scores can be shared on Facebook.
As brands in the middle market struggle, Stella Artois is using an ad campaign that pitches it as more of an upmarket brand. For more on this twin-track economy, read our Insight news piece.
