Heart and sole: Red Wing’s boot craft on show

Red Wing, Minnesota – Work footwear company Red Wing Shoes has released a video showing its craftsman, Jake Illig, in action in its factory. He is repairing old Red Wing boots handed in by customers.

‘I enjoy this type of work. It is hands on, it’s building, it’s a craft,’ says Illig. ‘We take the shoes apart, we repair them, whatever the customer is asking for, from re-soling to stitching. Basically, if it can be done to a work boot we will do it.’
