Say cheese: Alessi showcases spring/summer collection

31 : 01 : 2011 Homeware : Maison & Objet : Alessi

Italy – Italian kitchen-wear manufacturer Alessi has shown a range of products from its spring/summer 2011 collection at the Maison & Objet exhibition in Paris.

Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa has developed a collection of stainless steel pans with wooden handles called Shiba, after one of Japan’s most popular breed of dogs. Fukasawa intended to create a range ‘that people can continue to use throughout the years, rooting in their culture, repairing rather than replacing them’.

Husband-and-wife team Gian Franco and Anna Gasparini presented Milky Way Minor, a set of four cheese knives intended for the amateur cheese connoisseur, and presented in a foldout bamboo block.

London-based architect David Chipperfield’s Tonale range of tableware draws inspiration from Korean, Japanese and Chinese ceramics, and the work of the painter Giorgio Morandi. The intentionally ambiguous objects mix grey and white stoneware with glass and silicone.

Look out for our forthcoming review of Maison & Objet.
