London – As previously reported on LS:N Global, London-based designer Sam Wilkinson redesigned the energy-saving lightbulb for technology company Hulger this year with the Plumen 001. Continuing his mission to show that Prohibition Culture can look elegant, Wilkinson has worked with British manufacturer and design company Decode to produce the Vessel Series 01–03 of mouth-blown glass lamps to show off the low-energy bulbs.
The lamps, in dark translucent tones of amber, yellow and petrol blue, mute the colour of the bulbs and create reflections on the inside of the glass, disguising the bulbs further. Each lamp has its own shape and is cut differently, allowing them to be laid on a table, hung from the ceiling as a pendant or used as a floor lamp.
As well as producing original lamp designs, Wilkinson has shown how energy-saving technology can be seamlessly integrated into our lives without the need to shout its green credentials.
