Cry for quality: Kelley adopts sound style

London – Furniture designer Paul Kelley has drawn inspiration from musical influences David Bowie and Roxy Music for the launch of his ‘In Every Dream Home’ collection at this year’s London Design Festival.

One new piece is an armoire lined in leather and edged in solid brass. At first sight a purple box, it looks like a table but after sliding it open, a compact desk and chair are revealed. Kelley will demonstrate his attention to quality at the exhibition with the use of a wide range of materials, from laminates and wood to acrylic and felt.

‘We have to do so much more to help people understand why they should demand quality,’ says Kelly. ‘Consumers should scream and shout for it and we as designers and makers should deliver it for them – quality stands the test of time.’

LS:N Global will report from the London Design Festival next week. In the meantime, read about the latest design trends from Milan.
