Amsterdam – Bag brand Property Of has opened its first flagship store inside a café. The Singapore-based label’s new retail space is presented in the setting of an old-style bistro on the fashionable Herenstraat in Amsterdam.
As well as stocking the brand’s heavy-duty waxed cotton bags, designed by Peter Teo and Richard Chamberlain, the space also functions as a café. Inside the shop is a small coffee bar by Portland-based barristas Stumptown Coffee.
The new Property Of space also sells a selection of design and fashion magazines and books that have content in tune with the brand.
In the Turbulent Teens, retail stores are evolving beyond selling just that particular brand’s product. The Future Laboratory’s recent Retail Futures Report explores this new retail landscape further and how retail brands can thrive in the 2010s.
