Aspen, US – A new iPad app is making a magazine based on users’ social networks.

Flipboard reads all incoming social network feeds from sources such as Twitter and Facebook and reworks them into a magazine-style, easy-to-digest format. In other words, the app creates a personalised magazine for each user, so that he or she can more easily manage and read their daily influx of social information.

‘With more than 1bn messages posted every day, social networks are quickly becoming the main way people discover and share content on the web,’ says Mike McCue, Flipboard?s CEO. ‘The result is a huge influx of incoming messages and links people must sort through across multiple websites just to stay up to date. We believe the timeless principles of print can make social media less noisy, more visually compelling and ultimately more mainstream.’

LS:N Global will report on other ways magazines and consumers are adjusting to the iPad in a micro trend in August.
