Exhibitors and brands used the Salone Internazionale del Mobile as a platform to curate spaces that stimulated critical debate about the role of design today. LS:N Global has selected the top five spaces from this year’s show.

  • Curators investigated overarching themes of time and harvesting resources
  • COS and Panerai created experiential brand activations that presented a philosophy rather than physical products

Slice of Time by Nendo for luxury watchmaker Panerai translated the passage of time into a tangible object and live installation. The ages of visitors were translated into millimetres and this measurement was cut off a long, extruded clock face set in a circular atelier space. The varying clock face sizes represented the passing of time for each individual.

Lifestyle brand COS commissioned Studio Swine to create New Spring, a multisensory installation designed to evoke a sense of the changing seasons. A tree-like sculpture released ephemeral mist-filled bubbles that disappeared on contact with the skin.

The Big Picture
