SFF 2017: On Everyone’s Lips

08 : 02 : 2017 Stockholm Furniture Fair 2017 : Food & Drink : Material Mischief

Stockholm – Note has worked with Italian chef Isabella Morrone to create a temporary dining space at the Stockholm Furniture Fair.

  • The interior design is inspired by the concept of ‘sensory generosity’
  • Morrone combined elements of Swedish and Italian cuisine to create the menu

Designed under the concept ‘sulla bocca di tutti’ (on everyone’s lips) the space is visually and texturally rich, and designed to make an impression. ‘We didn’t want it to be elegant or functional,’ explains Daniel Hecksher of Note Design Studio. ‘We wanted to create a space that immediately grabs you by the heart and stomach.'

An intense colour palette of warm, skin-like tones ranging from salmon and coral pink to maroon and rust runs through the space. The carefully balanced colour scheme highlights a series of unexpected neon elements that punctuate the space, such as grouting in the tiled bar area, while the use of timeless materials such as wood and ceramics adds an air of calm.

The environment focuses on the interplay between different textures, such as the tactility and visual rhythms of upholstery and carpets juxtaposed against subtle details such as semi-translucent netting suspended above the bar and kitchen areas.

The Big Picture

The visually striking, playful nature of the space and furnishings is evocative of the visual cues explored in our Material Mischief Design Direction, and highlights its intimate, seductive character.
