Bosjes, which means ‘small bushes’ in Dutch, produces wine, grapes, olives and peaches and is just over an hour’s drive from Cape Town. Surrounded by the Slanghoek and Waaihoek mountain ranges, it will open for guests in March.

The resort features an avant-garde chapel, as well as gardens for mindful meditation and inspiration. Alongside those, the farm features an open-air tea garden and restaurant. Guests are also welcome to stay overnight in the five-room Die Skuur Guesthouse.

‘The universal appreciation of the earth and what it produces makes this a sacred space no matter what your religious affiliation,’ the press release reads. ‘The gardens, like the chapel and the rest of the farm, is an inclusionary space and welcomes all.’

The chapel was designed by Steyn Studio and following its completion, the Bosjes Trust has set in motion plans to build a creche and school in the hope that it will create employment and secure a future for those who live in the valley.

The Big Picture

As affluence continues to influence those embarking on pilgrimages, destinations such as Bosjes are being created to meet certain standards of luxury. For more, read our Luxury Pilgrims market report.
