US – New online restaurants are bypassing bricks-and-mortar eateries and offering a healthy update on traditional takeaways.
Consumers face three dinner-time choices – eat in, dine out or order a takeaway. With convenience becoming a top factor in decision-making, the takeaway is becoming the most appealing option. But rather than the usual Chinese or Indian, Delivery-only Restaurants that use fresh ingredients and have chef credentials are offering a dinner-time alternative.
New York chef and restaurateur David Chang’s latest project, Ando, aims to deliver quality food and a seamless dining experience through an app. Despite not having a physical space, Chang approaches it like any of his other culinary endeavours. ‘It's called Ando, but it's another Momofuku restaurant,’ he says. ‘I view this as no different from [our restaurant] Nishi.’
