Milan – For its seventh Handmade exhibition, Wallpaper* collaborated with designers and creatives to create products for an imagined luxury hotel.

  • Visitors could check in, stop by the hotel bar and even play a round of mini-golf
  • The annual exhibition presents one-of-a-kind pieces by designers, artisans and manufacturers

Normally an intriguing if disjointed affair, this year, Wallpaper* magazine’s Handmade exhibition offered a cohesive vision of design, centred around the theme of a hotel.

Although visitors were unable to spend the night, the Wallpaper* Hotel offered all the products needed for a stay at a luxury hotel. Each element was catered for, from a reception bell designed by Victoria Wilmotte and Maison Vervloet to a USB-charged toothbrush by Future Facility.

A miniature golf course in the basement designed by Studio JinSik Kim reflected the industry shift towards hotels as entertainment venues rather than just places to sleep, and featured contrasting materials such as marble and metal, and flooring from Bolon to create an upscale experience.
