Holistic retail

07 : 04 : 2016 The Body Studio : Selfridges : Holistic

UK – Selfridges has launched The Body Studio, a new holistic fashion and accessories destination for women.

  • The space offers products from over 150 brands
  • A series of wellness debates and #BodyTalk events will be hosted in an on-site Hemsley + Hemsley café

The new 37,000-square-foot retail space celebrates the beauty of women’s bodies and was created in response to the growing desire among consumers to live a healthier lifestyle. The space presents a selection of curated activewear, performance clothing and lingerie that is geared towards enhancing comfort and wellbeing.

Visitors can experience a unique offer from Face Gym, which provides workouts designed to offset the damage cause to the face by strenuous exercise. Visitors can attend a variety of classes tailored to specific activities, such as Yoga Face and Runner Face, which promise to strengthen facial muscles and tighten skin.

The Big Picture

As well as adopting a holistic perspective on wellness as we examined in our Body Temples macrotrend, retailers are recognising the need to empower individuality and are avoiding the use of overly sexualised imagery and ‘perfect’ definitions of beauty to take an honest, bare-it-all approach.
