Showroom with a view

18 : 03 : 2016 Everlane : Brook & Lyn : Radical Transparency

San Francisco – Ethical clothing label Everlane has opened its first permanent showroom inside its head office.

  • The self-contained space was designed by architects and interior designers Brook & Lyn
  • The pair used smoked mirrors and metal panels to create a mix of privacy and transparency

Everlane is renowned for connecting consumers with the people and processes behind its brand and the wider community at its Transparent City events.

Now the e-tailer is taking its idea of radical transparency a step further by inviting customers to its San Francisco office to experience its collections at first hand.

‘For a long time, we have hosted Open Studio events in our office, allowing people to try and buy our products. We have even had customers walk in during the day thinking that our office is a store,’ says founder Michael Preysman. ‘There is a real demand from customers to touch the product and experience the brand. We decided we should set this in stone and build a proper showroom.’

The Big Picture

Everlane has forged a niche as one of the world’s most honest retailers. In our Whole-system Thinking macrotrend, we examine how brands can go from talking about provenance to providing customers with transparent experiences.
