Preview: Power Provenance

28 : 09 : 2015 Solar : Sunplug : Whole-system Thinking

People are more eager than ever to understand the provenance behind their power and are creating demand for renewable energy through a range of innovative products.

  • Most consumers would prefer to use solar energy over fossil fuels, according to the US Homeowners on Clean Energy survey
  • Access to renewable energy is often dictated by cost and location

Consumers are used to exercising choice in most aspects of their lives, but when it comes to energy their options are typically limited. A majority would prefer to use renewable forms of energy such as solar and wind, but barriers to entry, including upfront costs and the need for certain weather conditions, can often feel insurmountable.

But a new wave of pioneering energy projects, such as the SunPort, Little Sun Charger and Solar Paper, is returning power to the people and providing a lesson in consumer demand.
